Finals are looming, and there is one word that can summarize your schedule: busy. Maybe you only have tests, but most likely, you have projects, papers, and homework (oh my!) piled on top as well. If your schedule looks chaotic, typically, one of the first things to go is a daily workout.

Never fear! You can get a workout in AND conquer finals as well. Here are five fast workouts to fit your schedule and keep you going.

CARDIO

Have ten minutes? Twenty minutes? Awesome. Hit the treadmill (or the trail), and nail out a couple miles. OR, hop on an elliptical or stationary bike and get that heart rate up. Cardio is wonderful because it doesn’t take very long to get your heart pumping.

ABS

Instead of stress eating pizza during finals, why not get a quick start on those washboard abs you’ve been wanting for years? Here’s a fast workout that will be sure to leave your abs burning:

  • Plank (try to hold for at least 30 seconds-one minute)
  • Bicycle Crunches (15 each side)
  • Atomic Sit Ups (10)
  • Back Extensions (15)
  • Scissor Kicks (15 each side)

Repeat 2x.

DORM ROOM HIIT

HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training. Scientifically, it is WONDERFUL for not only keeping you in shape, but helping you lose weight because you burn more calories and are rapidly raising/lowering your heart rate. Here’s a quick HIIT workout you can nail out in your dorm room:

  • Jumping Jacks
  • Mountain Climbers
  • Burpees
  • Fast Squats
  • Butt Kicks
  • Lunge Jumps

Do each exercise all out for 45 seconds, and then rest for 15 seconds. Repeat if you want more.

BODY WEIGHT ARMS & LEGS

Since most of us don’t keep a stash of free weights in our dorm room, and the likelihood of you leaving to go to the gym for a short period of time is low, here’s an arms and legs workout you can complete with body weight alone:

  • 10 Push-Ups
  • 10 Tricep Dips (off floor or bed)
  • 10 Incline Push-Ups
  • 5 Burpees
  • 20 Squats
  • 20 Walking Lunges
  • 25 Standing Calf Raises
  • 10 Squat Jumps

Repeat once.

DIRTY DOZEN

What does 12 times 12 actually equal? A fast workout, that’s what. Here’s the dirty dozen that will get you moving during finals week:996308d12b8aedb60a1b32fdf6703090

  • 12 Squats
  • 12 Mountain Climbers
  • 12 Burpees
  • 12 Tricep Dips
  • 12 Second Plank
  • 12 Jumping Jacks
  • 12 Push-Ups
  • 12 Russian Twists
  • 12 Lunges
  • 12 Sit Ups
  • 12 Butt Kicks

If you like the sum of 24 times 24 better, repeat once.

Happy fit finals to all!
