Arizona elementary school drops Pledge of Allegiance, refuses to answer parents’ questions

Gilbert Public Schools

A parent at Quartz Hill Elementary School in Gilbert, AZ was recently informed by his son that they no longer said the Pledge of Allegiance in the classroom. According to the school board of the Gilbert Public Schools district, the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance is a policy determined by each school’s principal.

Tyler Bowyer, a parent of a student at Quartz Hill Elementary School, reached out to the school’s principal for verification via Twitter.

However, as soon as he asked this question without even berating or accusing the principal, the principal blocked his Twitter account. Principal Joan Henry reportedly even encouraged parents to tweet her any questions or concerns.

Tyler Bowyer reached out to Hypeline News and said,

“I guess parents are just not allowed to ask questions about what principals do in the classroom these days. Very scary stuff.”

Although the principal may have not realized Bowyer was a parent of one of her students, Henry did display considerable conservative bias against a concerned citizen. The liberal bias against American values begins as young as elementary school, and perhaps the most alarming factor is that she refused to answer questions and be transparent.

Update: An earlier version of this article stated that the school stopped reciting Pledge of Allegiance as a whole. However, it was corrected to say that a student in particular reported to his parent that they no longer recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Absolute false accusations about the pledge. I have three children and two are still at quartz one moved on to 7th. It’s an absolute amazing school. I can post the incredible veterans day assembly we had if anyone needs anymore proof. I can’t speak for the block Twitter thing (most likely an accident) but seriously come on! These sort of false accusations snowball into horrible situations and cyber bullying. Amazing teachers amazing parents amazing principal. The End.
