This week, a number of ranked teams were able to prove that they are legitimate contenders for the College Football Playoff.

For example, Alabama went up against the 14th ranked LSU Tigers. The Crimson Tide were able to pull off a 10-0 victory, far from a resounding victory but still yet another impressive one. With that, it only proved their dominance once again. Interestingly, our panel decided to keep LSU at number 14, as they just because they lost does not mean they should drop in the rankings, especially by going up against the top program in the nation.

Clemson was able to defeat the 4-4 Syracuse Orange by a whopping margin of 54-0, while the Michigan Wolverines also came out way on top against the 5-3 Maryland Terps with an even larger margin than Clemson, 59-3.

Next in the rankings was the Washington Huskies defeated the 4-4 California Bears 66-27. Despite putting up these big numbers on offense, allowing 27 points against the unranked Cal is certainly concerning.

Texas A&M saw likely the greatest upset of the week as they went down to 3-5 Mississippi State 35-28. Ohio State saw a bump once again in the rankings after defeating number 9 Nebraska 62-3. The Buckeyes have now put themselves in a good situation to get a spot into the playoffs if they win out. However, that would also include having to beat the Michigan Wolverines, which is certainly no easy task.

Some other notable contests included Western Michigan stayed undefeated by beating Ball State 52-20. The undefeated MAC squad still is not receiving much love with most rankings, include the AP where they still are ranked 21. We have them at 13, a spot they have earned as despite having a relatively easy schedule, our panel has decided that it is not right to put them below a two or three loss team, no matter how those losses came about.

Oklahoma also narrowly defeated the one win Iowa State Cyclones, Louisville handedly defeated the unranked Boston College, while Florida and Baylor both went down against unranked opponents.
