Trump Tower was evacuated Tuesday afternoon after authorities found a suspicious package that turned out to be a bag of children’s toys.
The package was discovered in the lobby of the New York City building, Donald Trump was not inside at the time.
Someone in Trump Tower at the time posted a video on twitter of people being escorted out of the skyscraper.
The suspicious package was inspected by the New York Police Department’s bomb squad and the Secret Service.
“Suspicious package at Trump Tower has been examined by NYPD Bomb Squad. Deemed to be an unattended bag and safe,” the police tweeted. Police spokesman J. Peter Donald also tweeted that the package was in the lobby.
After the incident occurred, Trump spokesman Sean Spicer tweeted “Back to work here at Trump Tower after a false alarm. Thanks NYPD.”

Eric Phillips, spokesman for Mayor Bill de Blasio, tweeted back, “No problem. We’ll send you the bill.”

Dan Scavino, Trump’s director of social media, joined into the conversation by tweeting, “Eric Phillips- Spokesperson for @NYCMayor @BilldeBlasio- you are an embarrassment to the @NYCMayorsOffice & the amazing #NYPD.”

“That’s not very nice, Dan. But about that bill … work on it with us?” Phillips responded. He was referencing the millions of dollars New York City is spending on the President-elect’s building. The city has asked the federal government to be reimbursed.
