After finishing their season ranked at 12th in the AP poll and 15th in the playoff poll, the Western Michigan University Broncos rowed to Detroit to win the MAC Championship over the Ohio Bobcats. Seeing his team with an undefeated record of 13–0 (including two victories over Northwestern and Illinois of the Big Ten), their first MAC Championship title, the highlight of November 19th’s College GameDay, and ranked nationally for the first time in program history, Coach PJ Fleck declared:
“We deserve to be in the gosh darn Cotton Bowl, period! Write it down.”
Fleck, who brought his famous “Row the Boat” mentality to Western Michigan back in 2013, is now seeing that vision for his team become a reality. According to the following tweet from Cotton Bowl’s Twitter page the Broncos have landed a spot in the Cotton Bowl, set to take place in Arlington, Texas on January 2, 2017.

The Broncos will be up against the Wisconsin Badgers, currently ranked 8th in both the AP and playoff polls and with a record of 10–3. Fleck said of their team:
“We are very familiar with Wisconsin. It’s not hard to figure out they are an incredibly tough football team.”
Western Michigan’s season has brought them this far, and now we have yet to see if they can hold out over the Wisconsin Badgers to win the Cotton Bowl and keep their season undefeated.
